OPEN SKY - SIMONE
AABERG KÆRN
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum
After reading a newspaper article about an Afghan girl named Fairal, who shared the fighter pilot dreams of the Danish artist Simone Aaberg Kærn, Kærn decided that she herself would
fly to Afghanistan and teach Farial how to fly.
In a tiny, canvas-covered ’61 Piper Colt plane, the unlikely journey from Copenhagen to Kabul took Kærn three long, exhilarating and complicated months.
The special exhibition Open Sky - Simone Aaberg Kærn presented the multi media documenation of the performance including the plane hanging from the ceiling of the museum.
