BACON, FREUD, AND THE LONDON PAINTERS
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum
The special exhibition Bacon, Freud, and the London Painters presented works created by 'The School of London' in the decades following World War II.
Inspired by existentialism as a collective current in post-war Europe, elements from the Theatre of the Absurd were included in the layout of the presentation.
The exhibition scenography was open and void of choreography, the free-standing walls in the gallery underlining the fact that there is no correct path to follow in life – only innumerable possibilities. In the centre a stage-like construction framed the visitors.
The exhibition was made in collaboration with Tate, London.
